A detective story with Chrome’s built-in AI

An investigation where on-device AI transcribes, examines, translates and fact-checks the evidence.

I was playing with the new built-in AI capabilities in Chrome and built a detective story (with major plot holes) where the AI runs the investigation.

The case evidence includes an audio recording, photographs, and a handwritten letter. Chrome’s built-in AI transcribes the recording, examines the images, translates the letter, and turns everything into a detective report. A separate AI pass then checks the report against the evidence, flagging claims that might be uncertain or unsupported.

What I like the most - once the app is loaded and the required models are downloaded, all the AI processing runs fully offline - completely private, everything stays on your device.

This prototype needs Chrome Canary, experimental features enabled, and compatible desktop hardware. There are still rough edges (some APIs didn’t work for me), but there’s already enough here to build an interactive experience around.
