Luna devlog #1

Desktop 2D companion. First iteration.

Coding agents are getting cute avatars. Codex and Dots have pets, Claude Code has one, Grok Bots have cool animated avatars. I wanted to make my own.

The first iteration is Luna - a 2D anime cat-girl. Built in Godot in the evenings with AI coding agents. 3D was an option, but deferred while I’m trying to figure out Blender MCP workflows.

The plan is in three steps. First, make her alive on the screen: click, drag - reactions + premade scenes. That’s what’s in the video - she waves, dances, sulks when I carry her by one arm and peeks from the bottom of the screen.

Second, hook her up to an agent. Claude Code finishes a task - she cheers. Tests fail - she facepalms. Agent waits for me - she taps on the screen.

Third, the big one: run a small local model behind her, so she has her own lines and reacts to what I’m doing.

Still rough around the edges (literally): the cutout leaves a white fringe on dark backgrounds. The movements are a bit rough too, which is fine for WIP.
